With this new Pioneer XDJ-AERO you can wirelessly hook up 4 devices to this new DJ gear, even a Nexus Q phone. So that means no more wires required if you want to connect a laptop or two for your next DJ gig. Pretty cool promo video here:
Cost: $1,399.

Check out Rusko do what Rusko does best - have a ton of fun on stage and get people energized for his sets. The Denver Westward blog created a few Rusko gifs that I found link worthy.
Are you still kind of bummed that Chuckie didn't make it out to Ottawa for Escapade? Well let this be his way of making it up to you as he posts his full set at UMF Korea:
Pretty good.
Electrojams sat down with Arty recently to discuss the topic of 'trouse' and a few other matters. You should check out his response to the origins of the Kate track, I think something got lost in the translation.
Fans love Above & Beyond. But super fans take it to a whole new level, check this video out:
After a few quiet weeks following the highly successful Skrillex appearance at Bluesfest things have finally picked up in Ottawa as all three major promotion companies in Ottawa (DNA Presents, Bydek Group, and The KNWLDG) have all announced events in the last few days. This is good news for all EDM fans as I'm sure you were wondering as well as I when the next batch of events will be rolled out.
Here's a rundown of the latest announcements:
Marcus Schossow will be coming back to Ottawa on Wednesday, August 29th at Barrymore's. This is DNA Presents first scheduled event after the Escapade theft so it's great to see them back on their feet again.
According to a recent Ottawa Citizen article, DNA Presents will be planning a big CE Center event around Christmas time. Who will they book? The last time DNA Presents staged a CE Centre event they booked Steve Angello/Nicky Romero so my guess is that they will stick with booking Prog house heavyweights like Ingrosso/Alesso, or maybe an Axwell/Dirty south combo.
Boys Noize will be in Montreal/Toronto in December and if all of the rumours are true then Skrillex and Boys Noize will be forming a super collab group called Dog Blood. Could maybe a Dillon Francis opener and Skrillex/Boys Noize collab fill up something like the CE Centre? I think so.

The Mansion Nightclub is starting to warm up to hosting EDM events in a big way after playing host to Madeon's first appearance in Ottawa (with the help of Bydek Group), and more recently the 'I Wub Dubstep' event last weekend that featured Bass Machines, Rainman, JC BOOM, and Dubspec.
The Bydek Group and Mansion Nightclub have made a strong commitment to EDM this season as they introduced their new Friday weekly event called LOUD. The first LOUD event will feature Toronto producer/DJ Adam K who is by now quite familiar with the Ottawa scene after playing in Barrymore's earlier this year and more recently during Bluesfest when he opened for Arty. Ottawa has turned into an important gig for Adam K so expect him to pull out all of the stops to ensure everyone in that club has a good time on August 31st. Ryan Labelle and DJ Charles will be the opening DJs.
Tickets are $10, click here for more info.

The KNWLDG have been hard at work at delivering new events since aiding to organize the impromptu Skrillex after party at Ritual Nightclub on July 14th. This Friday will feature a free Dubsmack event with Rainman, JC Boom, and Dubspec at Ritual. On Sept 13th they are bringing Dub FX (Australia), Flower Fairy (Australia), Snareophobe (UK), and Starfighterz (UK) to Saint Brigid's Centre for the Arts. The very next day on Sept 14th the monthly Dubsmack event will feature dubstep/DnB artist Dieselboy. Well done.

Finally, I'd like to give a special shout out to Lowpass and Zaphod's so I can congratulate both at making 'Electronic Monday's' a weekly event. You can grab Lowpass' latest August mix here and just in case you missed my first interview at EDM Ottawa featuring both Lowpass and Eugene Haslam you can read it by clicking here.
After spending the weekend listening to Gareth Emery's event in NYC, Leon Bolier/Marcus Schossow live sets on be-at.tv, I've decided to change it up this week with a little something different:
Felix Cartal - Tonight feat. Maja Ivarsson (Autoerotique Remix Preview) - How can I forget this one? What a massive remix by Autoerotique, huge track.
Jack Beats - Epidemic Feat. Dillon Francis
Dream - This Isn't House (I'm still not bored of this)
Dank (USA) - Blow Me (Been tracking this release for the past few days on Beatport, it's now hit #1 in the Dubstep charts - the second drop is especially sick)
Found this mix of 'chillstep' via Reddit - so far it's really good, perfect to listen to while you're getting stuff done:
@edentates brought this top 30 list to my attention yesterday, it's worth a look but really this topic is far too subjective to be taken that seriously. This list probably reveals more about the author and his age than anything. Full disclosure, I own a few of the top ten albums as listed and still love them to this day.
Super8 & Tab - Fiesta
This track is generating a lot of controversy among the Anjunabeats faithful as the old guard are brushing it off as just more 'trouse/trance 2.0' stuff. I personally like the track; it's geared for the dance floor and there's really nothing wrong with that. What do you think?
Spin just came out with a list of Lollapalooza acts that they found notable enough to give their two cents on. Zedd's set was tagged as 'Best Way To Cure an EDM Hater', Bassnectar was given "Best Earthshaking", while Porter Robinson received the unfortunate title of "Best Fulfillment of EDM Cliche".
Bonus: Spin also reviewed day 2 where they gave Calvin Harris the title of "Best Medicine For A Long, Scary Day", "Creepiest DJ Booth" went to Avicii, and "Worst Attempt to Get The Crowd to Remember Your Name" was given to Skream & Benga.
