Nicky Romero criticizes ghost producing

Watch the revealing FuseTV video below with Nicky Romero:

Here are some choice quotes taken from the video as reported by Mixmag

"With regards to these artists, he said: “They don’t even know how to make their music. They don’t even know how to start the software. That’s not right.”

He continues: “We spend so much time and effort making the sounds, making arrangements and finding the chords.

"There are rich dads in this world that just pay for their sons and pay producers tons of money to have music out there and make them a big artist. An artist is created by creativity and originality and discipline. It is not created by money.”

He also admitted to having ghost produced for "Rihanna, Britney Spears, and David Guetta."

Hardwell: "I’m fine with ghost producing in general..."

In a recent interview with inthemix, Hardwell discussed his own view on the secretive world of ghost producing:

"Well I’m fine with ghost producing in general, but if you’re not producing your own tracks, be honest, say ‘I’m a good DJ but I can’t produce my own songs, I got help’. I think that’s fair. Just don’t pretend you’re this big producer, because obviously you can hear it, every track sounds totally different, like differently mastered. Everybody knows in the scene who works with ghost producers as well, because nobody noticed that I have a Top 10 Beatport hit with a track not under my name that I ghost produced, but nobody’s noticed it."

Interesting take, do you agree? If DJs were more honest about getting help on their tracks, I think that'd go a long way to clear the air on the whole ghost producing issue that's going on within the EDM world.
