On a Friday night in March the weather in Ottawa was dreadful: blowing wet snow with puddles everywhere, and hardly a soul to be found voluntarily walking the streets. But as you approached the Museum of Nature, there were well over a hundred people braving the weather waiting to get inside for one of the hottest monthly events in the Nation's Capital.

Welcome to Nature Nocturne, a special monthly event that invites you to dance, mingle, and view all of the exhibits at the Museum of Nature - all in one evening. The venue is gorgeous as it's centered on the impressive glass atrium with a stairway that offers gorgeous views of the dancefloor and the city.

What makes this night memorable are the people that go to Nature Nocturne, as they all put an effort to look their best. Imagine prom night....But for adults. Nature Nocturne is the excuse they needed to dress up to the nines. Fancy events run the risk of being a bit too stuffy, but Nature Nocturne does a good job at avoiding that by not only offering a fun dance event, but they also have a costumed photo booth, and invite all patrons to explore the Museum of Nature in a relaxed fashion.

The March edition of Nature Nocturne coincided with JUNOfest when the JUNO Awards were in town that weekend to celebrate Canadian music. Bit Funk, who was then nominated for a JUNO Award at the time of the party, and won the JUNO for "Dance Recording Of The Year" the next night, was spinning upstairs. He played a chill house set with disco vibes to the delight of the crowd.

The next edition of Nature Nocturne is happening tomorrow night from 8:00 pm until midnight. The theme is "The Life Aquatic" where you can get a selfie with a blue whale, and also features a karaoke zone if you want to take a break from he dancefloor.
