A Tribe Called Red's "We Are The Halluci Nation" makes the 2017 Polaris Music Prize short list

Out of the 40 albums considered from the Polaris Music Prize long list, the Ottawa based group A Tribe Called Red had the honour of making the short list for "We Are The Halluci Nation". The accolades for A Tribe Called Red keeps on growing as they recently won a JUNO Award back in April. Only 10 albums are selected for the short list as they all chase the prize of $50,000 and more importantly the honour of being called a Polaris Music Prize winner. 

The full short list nominees for 2017 are:

The winner of the 2017 Polaris Music Prize will be announced on September 18th at a live ceremony in Toronto.

The National Arts Centre (NAC) in Ottawa was the spot where this year's Polaris Music Prize's long list was unveiled. A Tribe Called Red was one of the 40 nominees for the album "We Are The Halluci Nation", which also received a JUNO Award in April. Having just played at Field Trip in Toronto with upcoming summer appearances at Festival D'été De Québec in Quebec City and RBC Bluesfest in Ottawa, A Tribe Called Red will get to showcase their fresh DJ set imbued with stunning graphics made by Bear Witness. 

Other notable nominees vying for the $50,000 first prize includes "More Life" by Drake, "Starboy" by The Weeknd, and Carly Ray Jepsen's "E.MO.TION Side B".

The Polaris Music Prize will name their short list on July 13th on Facebook live, while the Gala will take place in Toronto on September 18th. For more information, click here

Last month the Ottawa based trio A Tribe Called Red were invited to bring their own unique sound to guest mix on the Diplo And Friends radio show. A Tribe Called Red shortlisted for the 2013 Polaris Music Prize

A Tribe Called Red, an Ottawa based trio known for combining Aboriginal music with modern EDM beats ("powwow-step"), has been selected as one of the ten shortlisted for this year's Polaris Music Prize. Their latest album, Nations II Nations, is in the running along with other nominees such as Metric, Tegan and Sara, Young Galaxy, and more. Congratulations and good luck!
