Vinyl LP and digital album sales are up so far this year

As reported by Spin:

"Digital album sales are up 6.3 percent, which is more or less as expected. They also now comprise 43 percent of overall full-length sales (up from 38 percent at this time last year), which points to the possibility of growth once the CD bottoms out. Awesomely, vinyl LP sales are up 33.5 percent (a fitting number for the format, minus the post-decimal bit), which Nielsen exec David Bakula calls, "an amazing growth story." Dap is due to Jack White and Record Store Day. "

The huge surge in vinyl sales could be a result of the new Daft Punk album, but as reported prior, vinyls are definitely a trend on the rise.

Top EDM tracks from Ottawa's Bluesfest

It's been 5 days since the end of Ottawa's Bluesfest and it was a great time. Plenty of DJs visited the nation's capital this year from Dog Blood, Zeds Dead, Adventure Club, Tommy Trash, A Tribe Called Red, Grandtheft, and more. Even though I heard a variety of sets and styles, certain tracks stood out from the pack. Once you go through the list of popular tracks played, you can tell that it was a very Mad Decent type of festival this year, check it out:

Major Lazer - Bubble Butt Remix (Feat. Bruno Mars, 2 Chainz, Tyga & Mystic)

Ace Hood ft. Future - Bugatti (Heroes x Villains Remix)

A favourite among trap DJs and even Zeds Dead.

GTA - Booty Bounce ft. DJ Funk

Quite easily the most played track of the festival.

A-Trak & Tommy Trash - Tuna Melt

Major Lazer - Watch Out For This (Bumaye) feat. Busy Signal, The Flexican & FS Green

A close second to Booty Bounce in the running for most played track.

 Zeds Dead - Ratchet

ASAP Rocky feat. Skrillex - Wild For The Night

Is Tiesto making a trance EP with M.I.K.E Push?

Is Tiesto making a trance track? Is this real life? Can it be true? According to the latest tweets, a trance collaboration between Tiesto and veteran trance producer M.I.K.E Push is in the works:

As a trance fan, it's hard to contain my excitement when I hear that two trance legends are coming together to make a trance EP.  Tiesto has left the genre so long ago that the possibility of hearing new trance tracks from the man himself will be sure to get many long time Tiesto fans celebrating. But we may have to be patient as M.I.K.E Push has already warned fans that it may take a while before we hear any of the results. If this collaboration turns into something substantial then today is a very good day for trance and I am optimistic about the possible results.
