Overview: This year's Chasing Summer Music Festival features two titans within the big room house scene, Tiesto and Hardwell. Adventure Club will be leading the bass music talent while New World Punx (Markus Schulz and Ferry Corsten) will be carrying the trance flag high this August in Calgary.
Why you should go
The 2014 edition of the Chasing Summer will be one of the biggest EDM festivals in Western Canada this summer. Tiesto and Hardwell will be joined by fellow big room acts like Sander Van Doorn, 3LAU, Dannic, Firebeatz, MAKJ, and Toronto's own Dzeko & Torres. If you want to party hard and rage, then consider putting Chasing Summer on your calendar.
Acts to watch (If you want to hear new music)
Tiesto: With a new album titled "A Town Called Paradise" due out on June 17th, this upcoming artist album has been a labour of love for Tiesto who has been busy working on it for the past 2 1/2 years. This will be a different kind of album as Tiesto described the first half of "A Town Called Paradise" to be more mellow with softer sounds, while the second half will consist of a more "indie-rock" feel. Expect to hear a lot of new tracks in his headlining set from the legendary Dutch artist.
Hardwell: It's a well known fact that Hardwell has been hard at work on a new album. Back in April he claimed that it was only 40% done, but by August I believe Calgary fans will have a solid chance at hearing some special unreleased material from the #1 DJ.
Andy Moor: With the recently released "Breaking The Silence Volume 3", Andy Moor's double mix CD, you know that this long time U.K artist is ready to deliver serious trance love to the festival stage. His new single "Fade To Light" has been featured in almost all of the major trance radio shows, and it's almost guaranteed that he'll play it at Digital Dreams. Andy Moor's style is a mix of the melodic and hard driving trance and it will be hard to resist.
Kill Paris: Corey Baker, otherwise known as Kill Paris, has been really busy over the past year releasing music. His style is hard to pin down which makes this Colorado based artist fun to track just to see what he'll come out with next. His latest EP titled "Foreplay" is a continuation of his particular style which can be described as bass music based with melodic elements and a dose of glitch hop sprinkled in. Separating yourself from the crowd is important, and that's something that Kill Paris excels at.
